Championship Final: Banna, Co. Kerry

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Sadly we had no wind for the event, but everyone had arrived in the party spirit! Friday night we arived and hit the bar to meet everyone and have a few beers. As the forecast was less than promising, everyone decided to really make a night of it and there was a bit of a house party had with much foreign spirits and red bull. The party ended at about 6/7 in the morning and there was of course no wind so everyone spent most of the day in bed recharging the batteries for the following night. Saturday night was the classic ‘fancy dress party’ and I dressed a Beavis from Beavis and Butthead, with Peter being my partner in crime. Again another awfully long nights party was had and another very early morning with most of the day spent in bed! Again we unfortunately had no wind on sunday so at 2 o clock the IKSA Championship prize giving was held at the banna beach hotel. With all the championship points added up to give your final position, there were some surprises in the Ladies and the Amateur Categories. For the mens Pro I had done enough throught the year to take the championship title for the second year in a row which I was stoked about and I’ll be training hard for next year to make that 3!

Congrats to all the other competitors but especially Dominika Kupciw for winning the well deserved Ladies championship title. Also to Stefan Vance who won the mens Amateur championship who just also celebrated his 12th birthday this weekend!!!
